Where are Gwynedd's best home-mover destinations?

One of the most picturesque towns in Wales is Caernarfon, a World Heritage Site thanks to the 13th-century castle that dominates the landscape.

Once a mediaeval walled town, today Caernarfon's narrow streets are bustling thanks to its redeveloped waterfront - the town is surrounded by the Menai Strait to the west and the River Seiont from the east.

Just north-east of Caernarfon is the university town of Bangor, which is also a popular shopping destination.

Out on the beautiful Llyn peninsula, you'll find the picturesque towns of Aberdaron - Wales' Land's End - Abersoch and Nefyn. On the west coast, look to the likes of Barmouth, Aberdyfi, Porthmadog and Portmeirion.

Which council has control of schooling in Gwynedd?

The local education authority is Gwynedd County Council. The website of Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales, has more information on all schools and colleges in Gwynedd.

Did you know?

More people speak Welsh in Gwynedd than in any other part of Wales, with around 65 percent of the population fluent in their native language. The county is home to the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre on Nant Gwrtheryn on the Llyn peninsula.

The university town of Bangor has religious roots going back to the sixth century. The town's 15,000 population doubles during term time thanks to the influx of students.
